I think this is an area where churches drop the ball.

Quick question… I’ve heard(read)you say before that it’ll be a place ‘where people can belong before they believe’. Not that it’s any of my business, but what exactly do you mean by that? Are you granting membership to people who are not born-again baptized believers or just saying that they can feel comfortable hanging out and participating until they are good and ready to take the plunge??

@David - True- although I know many churches who do a great job at it too.

@Courtney - Great question. You’re too sharp. The phrase, “Belonging before believing” isn’t really a statement about church membership. It’s about the kind of people we are. We want to be a community that will unconditionally love people where they are and not where they should be- like God did for us (Romans 5:8). And then help them take their next steps on the path to following Jesus.
