Yet Another Reason to Pursue Your Dreams

Thursday, August 14th, 2008 | All, Life, Thoughts

If you’re a parent, have you ever thought about the example you’re setting for your kids?

Of course you have.  We watch what we say or do around them because every parent knows they pick up on EVERYTHING.  I have to eat all my vegetables or else I’ll hear the kids saying, “But dad isn’t eating all his veggies…”  So I eat them- to set a good example.  Fortunately, my wife doesn’t make me eat brussel sprouts. :)

Do you want your kids to follow their dreams?  Most parents do.  They want to see their kids live up to their potential and pursue their God-given passions.

But let me ask you a question: Are you?

Are you living the life you were meant to live?
Are you settling for a paycheck when you should be fulfilling a calling?
Are you merely surviving or are you truly living?

You might think you’re sacrificing your own happiness for the sake of the kids.  But remember the example you’re setting. When mom and dad are using the gifts God gave them, pursuing their potential, and living their dreams- the kids are more likely to do so as well.

The best thing we can do to help our kids tackle their dreams is to love them enough to pursue ours.

Lead by example.
