Playlist from Senior Year of High School
I thought it would be fun to post what a typical playlist would’ve been in my senior year of high school. Keep in mind, I was young and just acquiring my taste in music.
- Tucker’s Town – Hootie & the Blowfish
- 1979 – Smashing Pumpkins (Reminds me of driving around with my buddies Paul, Zach, and Erik)
- Wonderwall – Oasis
- Run Around – Blues Traveler
- Teenage Politics – MxPx (Christian musicians who weren’t lame- what a concept)
- What Would You Say? – Dave Matthews Band
- Big Me – Foo Fighters (Loved the video)
- What If I Stumble? – DC Talk
- Gangsta’s Paradise- Coolio (Not to be confused with Amish Paradise by Weird Al)
- Buddy Holly – Weezer
- What’s the Frequency, Kenneth? – REM
- Comedown – Bush
- Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Deep Blue Something (I discovered this song before it ever was a hit)
- When I Come Around- Green Day
- Selling the Drama – Live
- The World I Know – Collective Soul (People thought they were a Pearl Jam knock off. They proved they were better).
- All About Soul – Billy Joel
- Interstate Love Song – Stone Temple Pilots
- All I Want – Toad the Wet Sprocket
- Where It’s At? – Beck (I loved how experimental Beck was/is with his music)
- Hey Man, Nice Shot – Filter
- California Love – Tupac / Dr. Dre (Yes, I know. I’m a white boy in SoDak.)
- Don’t Speak – No Doubt
- Creep – Radiohead
- Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds – The Beatles (Class Song- that should tell you something)
- 6th Avenue Heartache – The Wallflowers
- The Change – Garth Brooks
- Popular – Nada Surf (I didn’t say they were all good songs)
- Who Will Save Your Soul – Jewel
- I’ll Be There For You – The Rembrandt’s (C’mon, “Friends” was in it’s prime)

Ha ha…those are great.
Here’s a few we would have had in common from that list:
Wonderwall
Run Around
What If I stumble
The World I Know
Creep
I’ll Be There For You (yeah, I was a big Friends fan too!)
Good memories. Sometimes I listen to some of those songs and it takes me back 15 years.

not gonna lie…i want to go create this playlist right now (plus or minus a few).
glad to see hootie representin’ columbia, sc at number 1…best live, small venue show ever right there. love those guys.
great call on creep by radiohead and wonderwall by oasis, too.
you’re alright, salamun.
question – collective soul proved to better? than what? pearl jam?
c’mon dawg. i hope you mean that they were better than a pearl jam knock off band.
collective soul = ok
pearl jam = amazing
good list though. i love all these songs.
You read it right. The body of work of Collective Soul is better than Pearl Jam. IMO. There, I said it.
… wow.
all i can think is… to each his own.
What no Rage Against the Machine?
Eric- I could have added so much more. Rage could have easily made the list.
